    The third generation of Renault Traffic (X82), was produced since 2014; From 2014 until late 2019 came with a 1.6liter dci engine (R9M) and it was equipped with Bosch EDC17C42 ECU. The earlier models were Euro 5 standard emission calibrated so only had DPF and EGR system but from 2015 the AdBlue system was added.

    It shares the same engine and ECU with Renault Fluence, Renault Megane, and Opel/Vauxhall Vivaro.

    Renault Trafic common DTCs: 

    • P0380: Glow Plug/Heater Circuit A Malfunction
    • P0299: Turbo / Super Charger Underboost
    • P0089: Fuel Pressure Regulator Performance
      This code is set when the PCM determines that the fuel pressure doesn't match desired levels. It is commonly caused by fuel pressure regulator failure, fuel pump failure, and fuel injector leaks.
    • P0340: Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction
    • P0102: Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Voltage Input

    indicates the DPF isn’t trapping soot/particulates as expected.

    P2463: “Diesel Particulate Filter Restriction – Soot Accumulation”
    The filter is becoming blocked with soot/particulates.

    P242F: “Diesel Particulate Filter Restriction – Ash Accumulation”
    Meaning the DPF has too much ash build-up and is restricting flow.

    P244A / P244B: “Diesel Particulate Filter Differential Pressure Too Low/Too High”
    Related to the pressure sensor across the DPF measuring abnormal values.

    P2452 / P2453: “Diesel Particulate Filter Pressure Sensor Circuit Low / High”

    Again, a soot-build up code specific to a bank.

    P2458: “Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration Duration”
    Indicates regeneration of the DPF is taking too long.

    Meaning regenerations are happening too often (often a symptom, not the root cause).

    1. First read the EGR related DTCs using a scanner or diagnostic tool
    2. Read the file using a ECU programmer/flasher via OBD port, in bench, or boot mode 
    3. Upload the file with EGR related fault codes
    4. After 20 minutes you can receive the file from your dashboard
    5. Disconnect the EGR actuator plug
    6. Write the file using the same read method
    7. Clear DTCs using a diagnostic scanner

    The differential pressure (DPF) pressure sensor on a Renault Trafic III is typically located in the exhaust/after-treatment system.

    You will often find the sensor under the vehicle, close to the DPF housing or in the exhaust pipework just ahead of the DPF unit. In some Euro6 models the DPF pressure sensors is located in the engine bay, behind the engine.

    DPF temperature sensors are located are generally located on or near the DPF housing/exhaust after-treatment assembly.

    The temperature sensors are often mounted in the exhaust pipe either before (upstream) of the DPF or after (downstream) of the DPF. This allows the engine ECU to compare temperatures and determine if the DPF is regenerating and functioning correctly.
